This new standard integrates existing use cases from the contactless payments on commercial-off-the-shelf (CPoC) and software-based PIN entry on commercial-off-the-shelf (SPoC) standards. It also supersedes and expands on current mobile acceptance standards to add new payment functionality and new certification options. The new payment functionality includes PIN-based transactions with or without an additional security device attached to the merchant’s smartphone, adding support for off-line transactions.
