By analyzing the communication between an electric vehicle (EV) and an electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE), you can gain valuable insights. This not only makes it easier to identify why charging sessions fail but also enables significant advancements in EV charging technology. Decode Combined Charging System (CCS) communication protocols and increase your debugging capabilities with the Keysight SL1487A CCS Charging Protocol Trace Viewer (CPT). The software supports the DIN 70121 and ISO 15118-2/-20 for vehicle-to-grid (V2G) communication. In addition, CPT can be used together with Wireshark, a packet analyzing tool, for easy and detailed tracking of communication between the EV and EVSE.

Decode CCS communication messages between EV and EVSE

Decoding helps translate the raw binary data of the CCS protocol captured during communication into a human-readable data format, making it easier for you to understand and interpret the messages exchanged between the EV and EVSE.

The SL1487A CCS Charging Protocol Trace Viewer can be used standalone or in combination with the Keysight SL1556A CCS Charging Protocol Tracer (CCS Tracer) enabling analysis of the over-the-wire communication traffic, which is communicated on the Control Pilot (CP) Line. Decode DIN 70121 and ISO 15118-2 and -20 protocols for vehicle-to-grid (V2G) communication (TLS-encrypted) as well as HomePlug Green PHY Powerline Communication MAC layer frames.

In addition, other proprietary messages related to the Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) are supported to allow for in-depth analysis of the CP signal or further analysis in conjunction with Keysight test equipment.
