In a 5G private network ecosystem, there is a plethora of connected devices such as robotic arms, sensors, and cameras. Private networks often cover vast areas and they can be indoors (e.g., factories, plants, or hospitals), outdoors (e.g., mining sites or harbors) or a mix of both indoor and outdoor. In other words, 5G private network deployments are not only distributed antenna systems or small cells, but also macro sites involving various use cases. For example, connected cameras are uplink-intensive and the data is processed by a centralized unit. Another example is ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC) utilized by time-sensitive applications such as robotic arms.
The deployment phase of private networks involves both the physical layer and site acceptance once network installation has been completed. It is crucial to align test cases to appropriate use cases, be it uplink-intensive or ultra-reliable low latency communications, and to ensure all antennas are transmitting and providing coverage for the appropriate zones.
